The 100-Million-Year Button 6 builds exciting battles and sets up the challenges for the next volume.

The 100-Million-Year Button 6, or I Kept Pressing the 100-Million-Year Button And Came Out On Top: The Unbeatable Reject Swordsman Volume 6 (yes, it’s a mouthful), shows love does not mean exemption from combat. As the first-year students gear up for a competition, they must face each other for the spot of chosen fighter representing the school. Allen still does not have the ability to control his soul attire. But that doesn’t stop him from competing or Lia and Rose from chomping at the bit to fight him. The 100-Million-Year Button 6 builds exciting battles and sets up the challenges for the next volume.

The volume from Yutaro Shido, written by Syuichi Tsukishima, with character design by Mokyu, begins the trio’s second semester at Thousand Blade. Translated by Luke Hutton and lettered by Arbash Mughal, the volume starts with light chatter with classmates until Chairwoman Reia makes an announcement. One first-year student must compete in the upcoming Sword Master Festival. So, each year, they have a tournament for first-year students who want to compete for the slot. After that, the Yen Press manga quickly ramps up.

The 100-Million-Year Button 6 Is Action Packed With Friendly Competition

Although they are friends, Lia and Rose are excited to face Allen again for the coveted spot. Seeing girls in a Shonen manga who do not need constant rescuing is refreshing. It’ll be even better if they step it up and have them save Allen. Still, it’s not all fights between friends. Someone’s holding a grudge against Allen and ratchets up the action. After all, the end goal isn’t to win the competition but to destroy Allen.

After the dust settles, the semi-finalists prepare to face off: Allen versus Rose and Lia versus Tessa. The different styles of combat and action are similar to those of other Shonen series. Plus, women are as ferocious in combat as the men. It’s especially true when it comes to soul attire.

Similarities to a Beloved Series

Schooling aside, The 100-Million-Year Button 6 and the series as a whole resemble Bleach. In particular, Ichigo in that series tries to achieve the second level of his weapon, bankai, by battling the physical manifestation of it, Zangetsu. Allen faces a similar trial, battling Zeon to acquire his soul attire. But Zeon is strong and dangerous, bringing out a darker side to Allen whenever he takes over. That’s why Ria’s father, in the previous volume, changed his mind about Allen. So, of course, the battles also take on some level of danger from Allen.

The 100-Million-Year Button 6 keeps action churning as exciting battles come one after the other. So, readers see how far the trio has come from their previous fights. Still, even after the battles, the series manages to squeeze in a date, jealousy, and a surprise turn as foes arrive. Still, the enemy gives Allen some advice on how to get his soul attire. Perhaps he’s an honorable foe. Thanks to how funny and strong the central trio are, The 100-Million-Year Button 6 balances learning more about the different personalities while ensuring entertaining bouts of combat.
