The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 has romance, jealousy, mystery, and minimal drag.
The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 recaptures a lot of the excitement that felt lacking in previous volumes. Another piece of the puzzle reveals itself as Octavia’s brother, Alexis, learns some things on his mission. And finally, after five volumes, the day arrives for Octavia to reveal her hidden lover. Of course, this does not happen without a few hiccups. The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 has romance, jealousy, mystery, and minimal drag.
Written by Mamecyoro, with illustrations by Mitsuya Fuji and translation by Sarah Moon, the volume begins with some confusing dream or memory that Alexis has of a past life. The issue with the series is it’s sometimes challenging to discern when the story moves between timelines, blurring them together. Because of that, it can build up frustration at times. Fortunately, enough progression occurs within the Yen Press light novel to make it worthwhile, even if some parts create confusion.
The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 Shows Alexis Might Be Dangerous
As the story continues, Alexis and Octavia’s relationship resembles the anime Ceres in some aspects, especially as those around Octavia feel Alexis might be a danger to her. King Eus or someone else may possess Alexis as his eye color changes. But whoever’s tampering with this world knows Octavia’s previous life identity. It’s unclear how it all connects, but aspects of Alexis’s memories from the past are playing out in the present. While The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 still builds some confusion, there is enough that readers can piece together to remain invested. Not to mention, Octavia’s fake boyfriend deadline looms and ties in with Alexis.
Illogical Focuses That Garner Disbelief
Within The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6, the most frustrating parts are the priorities. While Octavia maneuvers to sleuth and solve issues, it always seems the most pressing gets ignored. After all, when she realizes that someone tampered with Sirius’s childhood memories, which in part led to the plot orchestrated by Hugh in the previous volume, she still does not try to solve it. When she sees memories from Klifford’s childhood, she does not question him. The choices the series makes Octavia focus on lack sense. Now, the fake boyfriend drama takes a fun and surprising turn.
First One, Then the Other

After much thought, Octavia finally settles on Derek Nightfellow as her fake boyfriend. Fortunately, he agrees to it. Unfortunately, Derek crossed paths with her brother, Alexis, during one of his possession bouts. So Derek’s memories of warming up to Octavia, agreeing to be her boyfriend, or finally admitting to himself that he likes her are gone. It happens the day before her father’s party to introduce her lover, and she does not realize it until the day of. Lucky for her, she already has a backup who’s been waiting to step in: Klifford.
Their relationship development is moving too slowly. But enough happens in The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6to make it all worthwhile. Both refuse to admit their feelings, but it’s creeping in. There’s light touches, dancing, and even a kiss. So, now that they are a couple, it’ll be interesting to see where the series takes their relationship.
The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 is much more entertaining than previous volumes as it has more of what readers love—Octavia and Klifford. But it still has too many confusing clues that make no sense, a lack of clear delineation when characters move between the past and present, and too much unnecessary internal monologuing without a point from Octavia. However, with Octavia and Klifford a pair and enough clarity around who’s causing memory loss, The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices 6 rises above those issues to remain an engrossing page-turner.
