The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 introduces a character that—compared to the crew around Komari—is ordinary and wishes for ordinary.

The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 adds a new girl to Komari’s never-ending fan club. A new realm opens up for Komari and the readers. Plus, increased dangers and a broader look at the tragic truth that “you can’t please everyone.” There are lessons packed into the perverted, obsessed pages. Those moments are not as funny and take a back seat to the political upheaval and matrimonial war. The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 introduces a character that—compared to the crew around Komari—is ordinary and wishes for ordinary.

Written by Kotei Kobayashi and illustrated by Riichu, The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 introduces readers to a new character, Lingzi Ailan, the princess of the Enchanted Lands. Translated by Sergio Avila, this Yen Press light novel begins with Lingzi in a heated argument with Shikai Gudo, the Grand Chancellor of the Immortals. However, there’s more to this than meets the eye. As people in the Enchanted Lands start to vanish, Lingzi finds herself in an unwanted engagement with Shikai. Additionally, a mysterious force begins to affect Komari, sending Vill and Sakuna into a tailspin.

The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 Has a Love Core Implosion

It’s interesting how many different types of Core Implosion the series shows. However, it initially seemed like all of them were battle types. The only exception is Komari, who adopts an aspect of the species based on whose blood she drinks. But Meihua’s Core Implosion causes one to feel love for another. Hence, Komari’s obsession with Lingzi. While she does want to rescue her, that is not different from typical Komari behavior. But the comedy rolls in when Komari keeps letting it slip that she wants Lingzi for herself.

The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 has Villhaze, Sakuna, and even Nelia put through the wringer. Not only must they contend with Komari blushing and confessing her feelings to Lingzi, but to build up support for Komari’s intervention, Lingzi and she must go on a date. Sakuna becomes a new level of violent yet calm and sweet, sharpening weapons to take out Lingzi. So there are laughs, but where this volume shines is in showing the enormous pressure on the people in charge.

Someone Usually Suffers

The politics in this supernatural world of vampires and immortals do not differ significantly from the real world. Some people seek to make life better for everyone, while others seek to enrich themselves. Even so, others still suffer, especially if people regard them as guilty by association. The enemies exploited the guilt Nelia felt that she could not please everyone, and some experienced hardship when she took charge. The enemies also highlight that there are three enemy factions with varying goals. One wants to destroy the Dark Core so people cannot return to life; some want to wipe out people entirely.

The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 is fun and pushes the story forward as Komari inevitably visits different lands and makes new allies in her quest to unite the world. However, it never feels bland. Each land and encounter is unique, and as Komari progresses through, readers learn more about Komari’s powers and enemies. Plus, the mystery of the Netherworld remains elusive. So, The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess 7 maintains an entertaining tale with a character that—despite her adamant claims that she’s weak and cowardly—shows time and again that strength of heart and willpower matter most.
