Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 starts sweet, leans into drama when the mother-in-law arrives, and lands in cute, funny jealousy.

Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 shines best when the family interacts with others around, creating laughs and misunderstandings. Plus, the series does not lean toward manipulations that last because people refuse to communicate properly. That contrivance is annoying after a while. Communication is key and shows growth between the wicked stepmom, her stepdaughter, and her husband while allowing room for laughs and drama that leaves you cheering them on. Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 starts sweet, leans into drama when the mother-in-law arrives, and lands in cute, funny jealousy.

With the original story by Iru, illustrated by Mo9Rang, translated by Kakao Entertainment, and lettered by Chana Conley, the volume starts with Sabrian trying to zhuzh up a bit. After all, it’s a special night at the start of the Yen Press comic. It’s Abigail and Sabrian’s first night sharing a bed after the isekai switch. So, he put on cologne. Isn’t he considerate? His daughter, Blanche, will probably appreciate it, too, since Abigail brought Blanche to sleep with them. Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 begins so adorably cute and funny as the full-color illustrations capture Sabrian’s shock, resignation, and then happiness at the change in sleeping arrangements.

Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 Finally Shows More Father/Daughter Connection

After learning about the abuse Sabrian suffered, it’s understandable why he struggles to connect with his daughter. But this volume finally shows more interaction between them. Blanche’s affection for her father is apparent. But she is uncertain how he feels about her. The scheming machinations of Sabrian’s mother allow them to come together. She cared more about Sabrian siring an heir than regard for his age or well-being.

But she tries a different tactic with her granddaughter. She feigns an illness to manipulate Blanche’s need to help her father and the kingdom. The grandmother’s deceit allows Blanche and Sabrian’s relationship to grow. Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 balances lightheartedness with some delightful moments emphasizing speaking up and being honest about one’s feelings.

More Schemes Usher In a Big Reveal

Another person is plotting in Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5. A young man, Gideon Maclaud, arrives to be Blanche’s newly-appointed music tutor. He got that position with Duke Stoke’s assistance. Fortunately, Abigail is not one to completely ignore any alarm bells going off in her mind. She’s even less likely to do so if Blanche’s well-being is at stake. Here, readers see how close Abigail and Sabrian are and how much he trusts her. But also how easily he becomes jealous.

On the one hand, Sabrian trusts Abigail’s instincts. On the other hand, he exhibits jealousy when Abigail becomes Gideon’s student instead. Despite the toxicity, there are endearing moments. Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 continues balancing the sweet and the sour. It also includes one more shocking reveal. Because of creepy Gideon, Verite intervenes to protect Blanche. So, Abigail comes clean, introducing Verite to Sabrian and Blanche. This family of three just got a little bigger, and it’s all the better for it.

Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 is a delightful, funny story with romantic sprinklings. As one enemy recedes, Lady Karen Stoke, another one or two arrive. However, its best feature shows how a loving family should communicate. Hardships arise, but with honest communication, there is a way through. Plus, if no one’s hiding their fears or feelings, manipulative people cannot easily wheedle their way in. With laughs, worry for the future, and cheers for the characters, Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom 5 leaves readers excited for what’s next.
