Unholy Blood 3 shows the untapped potential hiding within Hayan as she confronts a vampire, Sayan, tormenting a school. Action-packed with drama galore, Unholy Blood 3 is a quick read fans will want to return to.

Created by Lina Lim, translated by Webtoon, and lettered by Shirley Chen, it starts with Hayan facing off against the angel of death, Sahan. However, this battle is different. The Yen Press comic shows how Sahan’s mind control resembles life in The Matrix. As Morpheus says, “Your mind makes it real.” But with the help of Euntae, they realize that Sahan’s mind control is an auditory manipulation. So, this is why it does not always work in Yunseo. But the battle brings a glimpse into Hayan’s past.

Unholy Blood 3 Shows Memories Returning to Hayan

With Sahan’s schemes, he opens up Hayan’s memories of her past. She did not remember her childhood. So, she only recalls growing up with the priest who raised her like a daughter. But in the memory, she sees two people smiling with their hands outstretched to her. Sahan’s mental control tries to tap into Hayan’s guilt for the world of vampires and the people she lost. However, it backfires. She’s not running from her past. As a pureblood vampire, this glimpse allows her to tap into more of her abilities. Thanks to this, readers learn in Unholy Blood 3 that even Hayan does not know her full untapped potential.

Euntae’s Back Story Adds a Layer and Brings Them Closer

Romantic hopes aside, learning about Euntae’s past is a welcome sight. After all, he just showed up and helped Hayan, but his motivation was unclear. Finally, there’s an explanation and a tragic timer. Given what he went through with his parents and his sister, Haeun’s anger toward him, it’s no wonder he conceals it all behind a relaxed demeanor.

To lose your parents only to have them return for selfish reasons is heartbreaking. So, he refuses to tell his sister the truth about their parents, leaving her to believe he’s a murderer and monster. Plus, she might feel guilty if she realizes he became a vampire to save her. Vampires in this world have a short shelf life of five years before they die. With this addition, Unholy Blood 3 adds a personal connection, making readers feel more involved in the characters’ lives and well-being.

Unholy Blood 3 packs in exciting fights that grow in scale thanks to Sahan’s mind control while taking time to build the characters in the story. They show Haeun’s passion for fashion with the fire and her fear of losing one box with swatches. The series does a great job of showing rather than telling to demonstrate who the characters are. On top of that, the cliffhanger is terrifying and makes readers clamor for the next volume. Unholy Blood 3 presents a unique story about vampires with its own lore and world for the characters to inhabit and readers to enjoy.
