Still, Youngjun and Miso can move past their shared history thanks to the revelations. However, comical jealousy creates conflict between them regardless. What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim? 5 keeps the story entertaining thanks to Youngjun and Miso’s antics and his family drama.
With an original story by GyeongYun Jeong, art by MyeongMi Kim, translation by Kakao Entertainment, and lettering by Chana Conley, it starts with Miso in the hospital after remembering what happened when she was a child. The Yen Press comic brings a long-awaited confrontation between Youngjun and his family, but first, there’s a hurdle. Youngjun wants to win over Miso’s father, Yeongman.
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim 5 Adds Hilarious Rock Dad to Mix
Surprisingly enough, Miso’s father is a guitarist and looks the part, complete with a leather jacket and chains. Still, Youngjun takes it all in stride. After all, he is Youngjun’s father-in-law, which is news to Miso. What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim 5 comically highlights how Youngjun and Miso have not discussed their relationship in detail. They haven’t even officially decided they are a couple. They only realize this when Miso’s dad asks how long they’ve been together. He takes their uncomfortable silence as proof of their lengthy relationship.

So, thanks to the previous volume, it’s clear that Youngjun is the one snatched and abused by the strange woman. Because Sungyeon couldn’t handle the guilt from leaving Youngjun alone, his mind switched their roles. Since Youngjun pretended to lose his memory, they let Sungyeon’s lie stand. Youngjun realizes he resents his parents but also takes responsibility for his ruse.
However, his parents are correct that it is still their fault. Even if he did lose his memories, they should have taken both kids to the hospital for treatment. Still, perhaps it’s their guilty conscience, but they have one over on other wealthy parents in these types of series. Plenty of comics and K-dramas show that a rich family hinders romance. This is especially true if one partner is poor. Fortunately, Youngjun’s parents adore Miso. Still, the resolution seems too pat, and Youngjun presents his forgiveness as magnanimous. It feels like he’s still bottling.
Jealousy Will Be Their Undoing
Although the adorable couple overcame that hurdle, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim 5 throws a wrench that’s lurked for a while—Youngjun’s jealousy. The pair share sweet, even steamy moments together. However, Youngjun’s controlling nature when Miso interacts with men, even coworkers, could cost him a relationship before it fully begins. Still, witnessing everyone’s reactions when they discover the two are dating is priceless.
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim 5 mixes the drama with plenty of funny moments and occasional seductive ones. Not to mention all the cheesy romantic lines Youngjun drops are sweet cringe. Hopefully, the series shows that the familial drama is far from over because the resolution felt too simple. Also, given Youngjun’s conceit, there must be a meaningful explanation regarding his jealousy. But overall, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim 5 keeps it fun and engaging despite some hiccups.
