Supernatural horror flick, Baghead, is set to debut exclusively on Shudder. Based on the short film of the same name and produced by STUDIOCANAL and The Picture Company, the movie is part of Shudder’s annual “Halfway to Halloween.” It’s a month-long horror lineup to mark the midpoint of Halloween. Fans of Halloween countdowns rejoice! While exclusive to Shudder, people with an AMC+ subscription can also watch the paranormal terror.
The horror flick from director Alberto Corredor follows Iris (Freya Allen). She inherits an old pub after her estranged father’s death. Unbeknownst to her, this pub comes with a creature in the basement. Through this shape-shifter, grieving people can speak to deceased loved ones. This entity has a bag over its head. But it takes the form of the desired dead loved one once removed. But it does not come for free, and there’s a time limit of two minutes. Iris, seeking to make a buck and ease mourners’ grief, soon finds herself in dangerous circumstances as passing the time limit has consequences.
Fans of The Witcher will recognize Freya as Ciri. Additional cast includes Ned Dennehy (Mandy, Peaky Blinders) as The Solicitor, Jeremy Irvine (Benediction, Treadstone) as Neil, the first to seek out this means of communication. Peter Mullan (Session 9, Payback) plays Iris’s father, and Ruby Barker (How to Stop a Recurring Dream, Bridgerton) is Iris’s best friend, Katie. Saffron Burrows (You) also appears in the film.
What do you think of the trailer? Baghead debuts on Shudder on April 5th.
