The Devil May Cry Lyric Video sets the mood for fans of the Capcom game who are looking forward to the animated series adaptation. The song “Afterlife” by Evanescence captures the violence, seething anger, and dangerous world the series resides in. Plus, the clips from the series are a chaotic montage. So it’s all action sequences, childhood flashbacks, and one eerie human-sized rabbit. Flashing over the screen are lyrics sung by Evanescence singer Amy Lee. She belts out her melodic rock vocals that shift between ethereal and a primal scream in the Devil May Cry Lyric Video.
From showrunner Adi Shankar (Castlevania, The Grey), it stars Johnny Yong Bosch (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Tower of God) as the voice of Dante, Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween, Ladybug) as Mary, and Hoon Lee (Warrior, The Monkey King) is the White Rabbit. Dante, a demon hunter orphaned as a child, winds up amid a battle. Because evil forces seek to open a portal between the human and demon realms, unleashing hell. So the Devil May Cry Lyric Video captures some of that blood-soaked, threatening rampage.
Also, Evanescence and Devil May Cry share their early aughts’ roots. After all, Evanescence rose to popularity with bangers like “Bring Me to Life,” “Going Under,” and “Call Me When You’re Sober.” As synchronicity goes, the timing also teases fans, whetting their appetites for an upcoming album from the rock band. Fortunately, the song, released by Netflix, becomes available on all streaming services on April 3rd. An alternate version of the song will play in the series. But fans won’t have to wait long to hear it.
