Netflix’s upcoming anime promises a wonderful selection for fans. Unveiled at AnimeNYC there are a variety of genres for fans to enjoy. There are new series on the way alongside anticipated returning shows for anime fans to immerse themselves in. Netflix is now the go-to streaming service for animation because of series like Devil May Cry, Castlevania, and more. So, here’s a look at some of the most exciting news to come from Netflix.
Netflix Upcoming Anime Has Western With a Twist
For those who want their western fix, complete with Gatling guns, there is the Black bounty hunter series, Bass X Machina. Starring the always amazing Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, You), as Dana, and Brian Tyree Henry (Dope Thief, The Fire Inside) as Bass Reeves, a Black bounty hunter, this looks like Western plus. The trailer shows various people saying his name, be it joy, love, or terror. It’s also not the traditional western, as there are definite steampunk vibes with things no one recalls hearing about in the wild, wild West. Was that a giant Gundam or kaiju in the trailer?! For now, people can enjoy the trailer till this original series begins on November 3rd. Netflix’s upcoming anime looks exciting and entertaining.
Could Live Up to Its Title With What “Free” Is

Another new anime that looks fascinating with an incredible score in the teaser trailer, Fool Night, created by Kasumi Yasuda, follows a future where an oxygen shortage endangers everyone. As such, they use Transfloration technology to transform dying people into flowers. The trailer shows many horrifying visuals that feel tragic and creepy. One person wants to become a flower. Meanwhile, another, who believes the person’s consciousness remains while the plant feeds on them, wants to destroy her father’s plant. An interesting concept that could raise discussions about existence, sacrifice, grief, and more, this series begins on November 26.
Returning Sophomore Seasons
Three beloved series are returning for the sophomore seasons! Let’s start with Cyberpunk Edgerunners, created by Rafal Jaki. Not a continuation of the first season, the second is a standalone, making the overall series an anthology, featuring new people in Night City. The teaser says the line between redemption and revenge will blur. Plus, the visuals look creepy and violent, and are in line with a series that knows how to deliver a gut punch. The haunting phrase, “Night City will burn again,” says it all. Of the ones we’ve listed for Netflix’s upcoming anime, fans can expect this one sooner, on October 20th.
The award-winning Blue-Eyed Samurai, from creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green (A Haunting in Venice, Death on the Nile), returns for its second season. Mizu’s quest for revenge is not complete, and she now finds herself heading towards unknown lands to fulfill it. While the trailer does not give much away, only showing the treacherous oceanic journey, fans of the first season can guess there will be plenty of new characters and bloodshed. The next installment comes out in January 2027.
Sakamoto Days, created by Yuto Suzuki, feels like slice-of-life meets assassin escapades. Or it would be slice-of-life people from Sakamoto’s past would let him be. But the greatest assassin is no easy mark. The character trailer unveils a trio of characters coming to the second season. This series balances the battles with the side-splitting humor with ease as this retired assassin continues to protect his family and current way of life. Fans will have to wait till January 2027 for this one as well.
Fans have their pick of genres from steampunk Western to science fiction horror to historical fantasy to action-comedy. Which are you looking forward to the most? Netflix’s upcoming anime meet a wide range of tastes and ensure fans will have plenty to enjoy!
