Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint 3 shows the sleaziness of many people once societal rules no longer apply. The danger is imminent. However, thanks to Dokja’s knowledge of the story, he can manipulate those around him for survival. Still, it’s unclear if Dokja is a good person who thinks he’s bad or if his choices indeed stem from selfishness. With art by Sleepy-C from 3B2S Studio, adapted by Umi of Redice Studio, and an original story by singNsong, the volume opens with the manipulative Inho Cheon telling the people that those who do not join the recon team will no longer receive rations. Translated by Hye Young Im and lettered, rewritten by J. Torres, and lettered by Adnazeer Macalangcom, aside from Dokja, the Yen Press comic focuses on Inho’s problematic behavior, the cowardly Myeongoh Han and the simmering Huiwon Jeong. Not to mention, though Dokja read TWSA and knows how the story should go, his actions still create unpredictability.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint 3 Reminds Readers It’s an Otherworldly Story
Most of the comic centers around human conflict. After all, rotten apples will bob to the surface if you chuck a population into dire straits. But the story never lets you forget the ever-present danger. It’s like Squid Games meets science fiction as other beings spectate the Earth games. So when they face monsters, readers are again reminded of the danger on two fronts.
The game’s mechanics remain mostly mysterious. However, the series deftly introduces aspects to help readers understand via Dokja’s inner monologue. That’s better than exposition dumps explaining the world. Instead, it opens up to the reader as it opens up to Dokja. Plus, the series times the explanations, executing them sometimes after the fact—such as the battle with The Warden of the Dark. It lets us know that Dokja had a plan all along.
The System Is Dangerous and Complex But Also Funny
Time and again, Dokja suckers the goblins, leading to plenty of comedic moments. When he fights the warden, the constellations threaten Goblin Biryu, who replaced Goblin Bihyeong. These goblins feel like the fairies from Romantic Killer but have a sadistic streak, especially when they smile. But when someone shows them up, their expressions comically match. Dokja has to navigate not only them but also the constellations. He must keep them intrigued without overly offending them.
Is The Protagonist of TWSA a Villain
Since the first volume, Dokja has tried befriending Junghyeok Yu, the main character of the TWSA story. But the way Dokja refers to him makes it appear that he’s more of a danger than anyone else. Therefore, to Dokja, he’s an essential ally. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint 3 teases future dangers while highlighting Junghyeok’s character. When he sees Jihye Lee is already allied with Junghyeok, he describes it as Junghyeok turning her to the dark side. It seems like more hardship and loss are on the way. Still, hopefully, readers’ favorite, like the sweet young boy, survive.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint 3 packs plenty of surprises even though the protagonist knows most of what’s coming in this new world. The constant plotting is similar to Death Note. So fans of series like that will enjoy this comic. There’s action, intrigue, and drama as the core crew struggles to survive. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint 3 is an exciting, unique story that engages readers, pulling them into this life-or-death struggle.
