Black Mangakas and Comic Creators

Among the manga, graphic novels, comics, and art, there are also Anime NYC Black creatives. Gigi Murakami is a mangaka who thrives in the spine-chilling horror space. First, a horror graphic novel inspired by Are You Afraid of the Dark?, The Sinister Sisters and Other Terrifying Tales, with three stories by Roseanne A. Brown, features Murakami’s illustrations. Plus, another work written and illustrated by Gigi Murakami is the one-shot Resenter, where a young woman receives a tempting offer after her murder. 

Stone Prison is a comic created by Mike Toney, where a young boy grows up in prison. Within the comic, it explores insecurities, trauma, and finding one’s purpose. Also, the color illustrations really emphasize the moments of bright colors like reds and greens.
