The Remarried Empress 8 emphasizes how some men in a life of privilege ignore the needs of those around them, only noticing their shortcomings when the person they care about leaves.
The Remarried Empress 8 shows jealousy and resentment continue flourishing as Navier moves on with Heinrey, and Rashta and Sovieshu cannot let her go. But jealousy corrodes everything, and these two are well on their way to self-destruct. But there are additional threats with Heinrey’s sister-in-law, who does not want to lose her position. The Remarried Empress 8 emphasizes how some men in a life of privilege ignore the needs of those around them, only noticing their shortcomings when the person they care about leaves.
Employing full-color illustrations in the Yen Press comic evokes plenty of emotions for the reader. There is plenty to respond to as much happens in this volume, from the comical to the juvenile. With illustrations by Sumpul, adapted by HereLee, and an original story by Alphatart, the drama doesn’t end just because everyone’s paired up. So, there is a lot to unpack regarding how corrosive jealousy is to how spoiled, entitled men can destroy women and themselves. With everything that occurs in this volume, the stage is set for tragedy.
The Remarried Empress 8 Shows Out of Sight Is Not Out of Mind
One universality between Navier, Sovieshu, and Rashta is none of them have entirely let go of the past. So, Navier questions whether Sovieshu was always like that or if the weight of responsibility changed him. Meanwhile, Sovieshu wonders if he’d been upfront with Navier, would she have still left? One of them is asking the right questions. The other lacks self-awareness and does not realize their mistakes occurred long before. Despite the setting in The Remarried Empress 8, the characters’ choices and behaviors are familiar.

Some people obsess over others either because that individual wronged them or because they envy them. For Rashta, despite her approaching nuptials, it’s the latter. People also tend to judge others by their own character. So, to Rashta, even when Navier leaves instructions to help her as the new empress, Rashta does not believe it. Rashta’s jealousy and desperation to cling to her new position while mistreating those under her is a mistake. But there is still Sovieshu at the heart of the problem who has most of the blame.
Sovieshu Is the Worst But Least Affected
Navier harbors resentment for Sovieshu and Rashta. The Remarried Empress 8 shows how the past can be a yoke around the neck. Navier does occasionally think of Sovieshu. However, they are only entirely on her mind when she arrives for their wedding. Meanwhile, Sovieshu pines for Navier while neglecting Rashta. The Remarried Empress 8 drives this home. Plus, it shows how shallow and ignorant his actions are when he argues with another man about losing his wife. What he says to that man can easily be cast at a mirror. But Navier’s wish for them to be miserable starts to unfold because Rashta’s hold on Sovieshu deteriorates in this volume.
The Remarried Empress 8 has a mixture of entertainment. However, the lighthearted moments between Navier and Heinrey take a backseat to the dumpster fire occurring with Rashta and Sovieshu. Still, Rashta’s not a villain yet. She’s just someone trying to climb out of circumstances dictated by her birth. Her flaw is how she looks down on those around her. Eventually, because of her behavior, everyone will pray for her downfall. The Remarried Empress 8 leans into the drama but builds frustration because there is so much scheming, even from Navier, that makes the story less and less enjoyable.
